Overview
Atlas Automotive exports Japanese used vehicles to buyers across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and East Africa. Their platform needed to handle 533,000+ live vehicle listings, real-time stock data, multi-currency pricing, and global shipment tracking — while staying fast enough that buyers on mobile connections in emerging markets could browse without friction.
The Challenge
The original platform was a slow, outdated PHP site with manual stock updates, no mobile optimisation, and a checkout process that required buyers to contact a sales rep by email for every inquiry. Bounce rates on mobile exceeded 80%, and the stock catalogue was frequently out of sync with real inventory — eroding trust with repeat buyers.
Our Solution
We rebuilt the platform on Next.js with a headless architecture that pulls real-time inventory from their stock management system via API. Multi-currency support with live exchange rates, a filterable catalogue (make, model, year, price, destination country), and a streamlined inquiry flow reduced the path from stock discovery to sales contact from six steps to two. Mobile performance was rebuilt from the ground up.
How We Did It
Designed the data architecture for 533K+ vehicle listings with real-time sync, filterable facets, and paginated lazy-loading. Chose Next.js with ISR for performance at scale.
Implemented live exchange rate fetching for 12 currencies (JPY, USD, AED, KES, PHP, and more) with country-specific shipping cost calculators and destination compliance notes.
Every component was built mobile-first. Image compression, lazy loading, and critical CSS inlining brought mobile Lighthouse scores from 28 to 91 on equivalent network conditions.
Replaced the email-only inquiry model with an in-platform inquiry form pre-populated with vehicle data, reducing friction and generating structured lead data the sales team could actually work with.
"The platform handles a scale of data that would have crashed our old site. Buyers in Africa and the Middle East can now browse and inquire in their local currency without calling us."
